According to the Food and Drug Administration, and Indiana-based company has announced a recall on their tomatoes due to a potential salmonella contamination.
The company is Ray & Mascari Inc., located in Indianapolis. The product is the 4-Count Vine Ripe Tomatoes; packaged in clam shell containers with UPC Numbers 7 96553 20062 1, and a master case label with Lot# RM250424 15250B or Lot# RM250427 15250B.
The recalled tomatoes were sold by Gordon Food Service Stores in Indiana; but also in Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Mississipi, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.
Ray & Mascari Inc. was notified by Hanshaw & Capling Farms of Florida that they were recalling the lot of tomatoes Ray & Mascari Inc had received and repacked into the 4-Count Vine Ripe Tomatoes in clamshell packaging.
The recall was due to the possible presence of salmonella in their facility. No illnesses have been reported at the time of this story.
