
According to a press release from the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, LCSO officers participated in a multi-state and agency blitz on US 20 on May 14th. On that day, 99 officers from 12 states worked on a traffic safety project along 20.
In La Porte County, four deputies participated in the project, the aim of which was to increase traffic safety and public awareness along US 20 in La Porte County.
Deputies worked the project during a 2-hour peak travel time. During that time, La Porte County deputies made 45 contacts, issued 41 warnings (29 speed related and 12 for other violations), and issued 4 citations (2 speed related and 2 for other violations).
Administrative Captain Derek J. Allen noted that in addition to participating in these blitzes, La Porte County deputies will continue to be present daily to identify motorists who are in violation of traffic laws.
