Mobile Food Pantry Distribution to Take Place in San Pierre Thursday May 29

According to a press release from the Starke County Community Foundation, or SCCF; they and Starke County Health Department are teaming up to host a series of Food Bank of Northern Indiana’s Mobile Food Pantry Distributions in underserved areas of the county this year.

The first dual sponsored distribution will take place this Thursday, May 29 at San Pierre’s Tierney Park, located at 7520 S US Hwy 421.

There will be enough items on site to serve 200 households. This drive-through opportunity works on a first-come, first-served basis and will run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Central unless items are depleted prior to the scheduled end time.

In addition to this upcoming distribution, more opportunities will be held at San Pierre’s Tierney Park from 10 a.m. to noon Central on July 31, September 25, and November 20.

This latest partnership with the Starke County Health Department builds upon SCCF’s previous efforts to expand access to food. For the last several years, the Starke County Community Foundation has sponsored mobile food pantry distributions in the Town of Hamlet, providing more than $100,000 in grant funds to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana to ensure local individuals and families have access to these distributions. Later this year, food will be provided at the Starke County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Central on July 10, September 11, and November 13.

If there are any items left over following these distributions, they can be provided to local organizations serving Starke County residents. If you are a representative for a local organization that could help provide any leftover items to those in need, please contact the Starke County Community Foundation at 574-772-3665 or starke@nicf.org.
