US 20 To Experience Lane Closures in La Porte County

ROLLING PRAIRIE – According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, alternating lane closures on U.S. 20 between County Road 250 East and Oak Knoll Road were to start as early as yesterday, due to construction.

This is located near Rolling Prairie in La Porte County.

Phase one of the construction will involve alternating lane closures for about a week, during which time the traffic configuration for phase two will be set up. On or around May 10th, the eastbound lanes will be converted to two-way traffic to allow construction to occur in the westbound lanes. This phase will be ongoing through approximately the end of July.

The project consists of road reconstruction with added center turn lanes and shoulders; and will also be conducted on U.S. 20 between State Road 39 and Fail Road; and between U.S. 35 and County Road 400 West, later this year with work ongoing through late November.

The Indiana Department of Transportation encourages drivers to allow extra time while driving through these areas and to follow traffic directions carefully. They state that motorists should slow down, exercise caution, and drive distraction-free through all work zones.
