According to information shared by the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, they have been receiving reports of residents receiving hoax phone calls from scammers pretending to be employees of La Porte County Sheriff’s Office.
LCSO recommends that if you receive an unexpected phone call from anyone claiming to be affiliated with their agency, the call should be immediately terminated.
Those who are unsure about the veracity of a call can verify by hanging up and reaching out directly to the Sheriff’s Office through their official non-emergency line, 219-326-7700.
