According to information from the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, residents in Center and Springfield Township should be informed that shortly after noon on Monday June 9th, a man named Alfonzo D. Egeston Jr. fled from a traffic stop along westbound I-80/90 in the area of Mile Marker 49, leaving behind a haul of methamphetamine.
Highway Interdiction Deputies gave chase as Egeston ran north and onto the rear properties that adjoin County Road 450 North.
Additional deputies converged on the area and set up a perimeter. They stated that agency K9s and drones were being utilized to attempt to locate Egeston.
As of an update shared at 5:22pm Monday evening, the continued efforts to locate Egeston throughout the afternoon had been unsuccessful.
La Porte County Sheriff’s Office urged members of those nearby communities to call 911 if they observe Egeston on their property.
