Oregon-Davis School Board Member Facing Fraud, Official Misconduct Charges

HAMLET, Ind. (WNDU) – Shrimp and bloody marys are not on the menu at the Oregon-Davis High School athletics concession stand.

So, why were those items allegedly being purchased by a representative of the school booster group that runs the stand?

The questions led to an investigation that resulted in the filing of felony charges, including counts of official misconduct and fraud.

Court documents allege that the only authorized user of a bank card issued to the athletic booster organization was issued to sitting school board member Terry Minix.

Court documents also contend that when the school corporation ran the concession stand during a three-year period (2019, 2020, 2021), the operation made more than $23,000.

Since the boosters took over from 2021 to present, the concession stand brought in $4,000.

Superintendent William Bennett issued a press release. It states that “the corporation is aware of the current charges involving sitting school board member Mr. Terry Minix. At this time, we are unable to provide further comment, as we are cooperating fully with local law enforcement and the prosecuting attorney.”

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
