According to a press release from the Starke County Community Foundation (SCCF), they have awarded a $5,513 grant to McMillen Health through the Hardesty Memorial Endowment Fund to support in-classroom preventive health education for Starke County students.
With this funding, McMillen Health will deliver outreach sessions designed to promote lifelong healthy habits among local youth. Led by trained health educators, the sessions cover topics such as nutrition, social and emotional health, substance use prevention, and life skills. Each session includes pre- and post-testing, with a goal of increasing students’ health knowledge by at least 35%.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Starke County Community Foundation for their investment in preventive health education,” said Taylor Yoder, Interim Executive Director of McMillen Health. “This funding will allow us to reach hundreds of students across Starke County with fact-based programming that promotes physical, emotional, and social well-being. With support like this, we are not only educating, but empowering the next generation to lead healthier, safer lives.”
