According to the La Porte Police Department, the day shift officers on Tuesday, July 15th recovered a stolen van and arrested the suspect after a swift and coordinated response.
Early Tuesday morning, officers were dispatched to E Street for a reported vehicle theft. A witness had seen a male suspect flee in the van around 6:30am. Using Flock cameras, officers were able to locate the vehicle on McClung Road. A felony stop was initiated, and the driver of the vehicle, Joshua D. Murray, was taken into custody.
Murray is facing multiple charges including Theft of a Vehicle with Prior Conviction, Resisting Law Enforcement Causes Bodily Injury, and Driving a Motor Vehicle While Suspended having a Prior Suspension within 10 Years.
The stolen van was returned to its owner with minor damage. Two officers sustained minor injuries during the arrest.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
