The Starke County Council held a Budget Workshop meeting on Tuesday, July 8th, and the meeting minutes were submitted to WKVI by the Starke County Auditor as follows:
Pursuant to adjournment comes now the Starke County Council and meet at 9:00 AM in the Annex Building #1 meeting room, Knox, Indiana, for the budget workshop with Cassandra Hine and Dave Pearman absent. Bill Crase was on Zoom and Howard Bailey was late due to a funeral, and the following proceedings were held to Wit:
IN RE: BUDGET WORKSHOP
The budget workshop was held with the council stating only 3% raises and for the Auditor to make those changes. Auditor’s office wages will be discussed on 7-21-25 at their regular meeting. Changes were requested with 3 part time park employees line item. Those requesting bigger salary increases and new employees have to go before the commissioners first.
Suggestions were made to other departments and all departments were told that cuts may be needed due to new legislation, so not to depend on what was submitted.
Bill Crase moved to tentatively approve with the suggestions made and 3% raises, excluding the Auditor’s Office, seconded by Bruce Bennett with 4 ayes. (Howard Bailey left a few minutes early due to a funeral)
There being no further business to come before the board, Bruce Bennett moved to adjourn seconded by Bill Crase with 4 ayes.
