La Porte County Sheriff’s Office Performs Double OWI Arrest

According to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, on August 24th, a Deputy responded to the area of County Road 1000 South and County Road 125 East, in reference to a single vehicle crash in a field.

Upon arriving in the area, the deputy spotted a Dodge pickup truck traveling west on County Road 1000 South, and eventually turn onto the dirt lane leading to the scene of the crash.

At the scene, the deputy reports observing a Jeep Wrangler on its driver’s side with the roof completely dislodged, and the Dodge pickup truck.

The Deputy reports that the driver of the Jeep – Shawn D. O’Brien; and the driver of the Dodge – Broc A. Jurkowski; were both impaired and later arrested for operating while intoxicated.

O’Brien is being charged with Operating While Intoxicated with a passenger under the age of 18, a Level 6 Felony; and Operating While Intoxicated Endangerment, a level A Misdemeanor.

Jurkowski is being charged with Operating While Intoxicated, a Level A Misdemeanor; Operating While Intoxicated Endangerment, a Level A Misdemeanor.

The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office would like to emphatically remind people not to operate vehicles while intoxicated. They would also like to remind listeners that arrests and criminal charges are mere accusations, and that every person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
