
LA PORTE COUNTY – According to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, on September 22nd, 2025 at 11:04 PM, Sergeant Gabe Struss was traveling northbound on Pine Lake Avenue near Waverly Road when a southbound vehicle caught his attention as it was traveling more than the posted 35 miles per hour speed limit.
A certified radar instrument determined the speed of the vehicle to be 60 miles per hour.
Sergeant Struss conducted a U-turn and began traveling south on Pine Lake Avenue. Even after activating his emergency lights and siren, the speeding vehicle did not slow down. Near the intersection of Newporte Boulevard, the vehicle drove left of center line and crashed into an impact attenuator. The vehicle went airborne, rolled over, and came to rest on its roof in a northbound lane.
The driver (lone occupant) was identified as 23-year-old Liliana C. Magana of La Porte. Magana was transported to an area hospital for a certified chemical test and medical clearance. Following such, Magana was transported to the La Porte County Jail (LCJ) and arrested for three counts of Operating While Intoxicated.
Magana remains housed in the LCJ and is being held on a $905 cash-only bond through Superior Court III.
Arrests and criminal charges are mere accusations. Every person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
