Full-Scale Safety Preparedness Exercise at Michigan City High School October 16

Michigan City Area Schools have announced that they will host a planned, full-scale safety preparedness exercise, to be held at Michigan City High School on October 16th.

This exercise is conducted in partnership with the National Center for Integrated Emergency Response Training (NCIERT) and local emergency responders.

The announcement states that the event will allow staff and first responders to practice and strengthen emergency procedures together.

What to expect:

  • The drill will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Emergency vehicles, sirens, and first responders will be on campus.
  • Nearby neighbors and businesses may notice emergency vehicles, sirens, or other practice activity as part of the exercise.
  • Support staff will be available to check in with student and staff volunteers as needed.
  • This is a planned drill, not a real emergency.

Additional details are provided in the Full Scale Safety Preparedness Drill Information document, found here.

Support staff will be available before, during, and after the drill to help the participants process the experience and ensure they feel safe.
