
KNOX – The City of Knox will be holding their Knoxtoberfest celebration this upcoming Saturday, October 4th, with no shortage of festivities throughout the day in downtown Knox.
There will be a downtown tree and window decorating contest to be held on the 4th, and businesses on Main Street who have entered can decorate their windows for the festival.
Starke County Youth Club will be hosting a glow-in-the-dark party at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center, from 9am to 4pm. There will be glow in the dark mini-golf, ring toss, corn hole, giant jenga, and more, with entry wrist bands costing $7. There will also be face painting available there for $5.
The Knoxtoberfest car and motorcycle show will conduct registration from 10-noon on the east side of the Starke County Courthouse, with judging to take place from noon to 1:30 and awards at 2pm, with prizes for first, 2nd, and 3rd place. There will be Dash Plaques for the first 25 entries.
Pioneer Floral and Gifts will be hosting a make your own broom and open pour candles crafts, as well as cash and carry bouquets, from 10am to 1pm Saturday.
At 10:30am, WKVI’s own Alyssa Smith will be singing our National anthem.
The Knoxtoberfest Golf Cart Parade will begin at 11:30am, with lineup beginning at 11am in the parking lot behind Dollar General on Shield Street. To enter the parade there is a cost of $10 per vehicle. Entries must be Halloween-themed. You can register your vehicle the day of the event.
There will be a cornhole tournament at the festival, with sign ups at noon and bags flying at one. Entry is $15 per person, with a payout to the top 3 places!
The 1st annual Trike parade will begin at noon, young tricycle riders are welcome to participate!
The Starke County Historical Society will be hosting story times with Ms. Dolores at Serenity Garden, at 1 and 3pm.
The first Little Miss and Mr. Knoxtober Fest pageant will take place this year, with categories for Baby Mr. & Miss from newborn to 2 years, Little Mr. & Miss from 3-4 years, and Jr. Mr. & Miss from 5-6 years. There is a $10 entry fee for the pageant, and prizes will be awarded! The pageant is sponsored by Just Breathe Holistic Wellness and Golden Wings Photography/Engraving.
There will be several vendors at the event, as well as a bounce house. There will also be live music throughout the day, with Logan Wheat beginning at noon. Small Town Out-Laws will go on at 2pm, and South of Sorrow will be at 4.
