More than 100 community members attended Mammoth Solar’s Open House event on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at the Pulaski County Historical Society Cultural Center.
The event was held in collaboration with Bechtel, the company constructing the current phases of the Mammoth project, and offered community members the opportunity to engage directly with representatives from Doral Renewables, the project’s developer; Bechtel, the company constructing the project; and Alaska Power, who is the on-site representative for Doral, supporting the construction of the project. Participants were able to learn more about the project, voice their opinions, ask questions, and address concerns directly with the project’s team.
Project representatives led discussions on a wide range of topics, including property rights and the real estate process, economic development, community engagement, career opportunities, agrivoltaics, environmental and economic impacts, the political landscape, and technical aspects of construction.
Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions, share feedback, and gain a deeper understanding of the role solar energy plays in supporting both local communities and broader energy goals. The event also featured hands-on demonstrations, including an up-close-and-personal view of a typical solar panel and racking system built with Indiana steel, as well as a robot used to precisely align and install the steel piles that anchor the panels.
“Thank you to the many community members who came out to learn more and ask questions,” said Kevin Parzyck, Doral Renewables Senior Vice President of Development, who also led the discussions around community and economic impact. “We regret that some of the officials and community members who have been the most outspoken against the project chose not to engage directly with us or their constituents and neighbors on these important issues. We value open dialogue and remain committed to transparency, partnership, and addressing concerns in good faith. Our door is always open.”
Mammoth Solar, powered by Doral Renewables with construction support from Bechtel, is designed to provide significant long-term economic and environmental benefits to Pulaski County and the surrounding region. The Open House event was one in a series of outreach efforts aimed at strengthening communication and building trust with the community.
