
According to an announcement from the Michigan City Police Department, on Monday, October 27th at 3:14 PM, the LaPorte County E-911 Regional Dispatch Center received a 911 call regarding a pedestrian who had located a body in a ditch within the 700 block of Indiana State Road 212.
Officers from Uniform Patrol Shift 2 and the Traffic Division responded to the scene where they located a deceased adult male with fatal injuries. This male was later identified as 31-year-old Michigan City resident Gregory Wyse. Detectives from the Investigative Division responded to the scene and are assisting with this investigation.
A preliminary investigation into this incident revealed Wyse was walking south along Indiana State Road 212 when he was struck by an unidentified vehicle traveling south on the roadway. The unidentified vehicle then left the crash scene after impact occurred. A section of Indiana State Road 212 was closed for several hours while investigators processed the scene and collected multiple pieces of evidence. No further information will be released at this time due to the ongoing investigation. Additional information about this incident will be released when it becomes available. There is no known threat to public safety at this time.
