Starke County Commissioners to meet October 20

The Starke County Commissioners have announced a meeting to be held this upcoming Monday, October 20th. The meeting will take place at 9:30am Central Time.

Commissioners will hear a report from EMS Director Jim Garner, followed by County Assessor Michelle Schouten with information on bids for the county’s upcoming property reassessment project. Commissioners will also hear discussion on a farmland lease agreement.

County Treasurer Kelly Graham will report an update on county financial records, including bank reconciliations. Highway Superintendent Rachel Kinney will address the commissioners in regards to improvements to the Hamlet Industrial Park Road, and plans for the Community Crossings Matching Grant for 2026. Sheriff Jack Rosa will discuss the county’s use of metal detectors with commissioners.

Commissioners will hear a funding request related to jail operations, and will discuss the proposed annexation of a water tower in Hamlet. The county Clerk will provide an update on county voting equipment, and a Park Board representative will report on electrical improvements at Bass Lake Campground.

Commissioners will hear a request from the IT director for additional appropriations for county-wide department software upgrades, as well as review vendor and payroll claims along with the minutes from their October 6th meeting.

After any additional items that may be brought before the commissioners, the meeting will be adjourned. The public is invited to attend this meeting.
