Pulaski County Community Development seeking members for Commission boards

Pulaski County Community Development has announced that they are now accepting applications from residents who are interested in being considered to serve on the commissions that work with Community Development, and whose presidents serve on the Community Development Commission.

The announcement states that at minimum, they will be filling the following seats:

  • one seat on the Economic Development Commission (four-year term beginning in February; appointed by the Board of Commissioners upon the nomination of the Council);
  • one seat on the Redevelopment Commission (one-year term beginning in January; appointed by the Board of Commissioners);
  • one partial-term seat on the Tourism Advisory Council (one-year term beginning in January; appointed by the Board of Commissioners); and
  • one full-term seat on the Tourism Advisory Council (two-year term beginning in January; appointed by the Board of Commissioners).

The primary responsibilities of the E.D.C. are reviewing applications for tax abatements and Revolving Loan Fund loans (once the program has been reopened) and, if/as/when needed, issuing bonds to fund development projects.

The announcement goes on to state: The primary responsibilities of the R.C. are supporting/funding/facilitating development projects (potentially including acquiring, renovating/developing/redeveloping, and renting out or selling commercial properties); establishing and managing tax-increment–finance districts if/as/when appropriate; and, if/as/when needed, issuing bonds to fund development projects.

The primary responsibilities of the TAC are developing/approving a budget for tourism-marketing spending, developing and overseeing the implementation of a tourism strategic plan, and supporting/funding/facilitating tourism projects and programs.
