Starke County Historical Society will hold their annual meeting this upcoming Monday, November 10th. The meeting will take place at Knox High School, located at #1 Redskin Trail in Knox. Enter at Door 2H on the south side of the building.
This year’s meeting will feature a carry-in dinner, with fried chicken and desserts provided by the Historical Society. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share and their own table service.
Doors for the meeting will open at 6pm Central Time, with dinner beginning at 6:30 and the meeting to begin at 7pm.
During the business meeting, officers and board members will be elected. Following the business meeting, La Porte County Historian Bruce Johnson will speak on the Kingsbury Ordinance Plant.
During World War II and the Korean Conflict, hundreds of people from Starke County and the surrounding area worked in the Kingsbury Ordnance Plant in LaPorte County. The LaPorte County site was one of the largest shell-loading plants in the nation. This meeting, open to the public, is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the topic.
