Starke County Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals seeking board members


STARKE COUNTY – According to an announcement from the Starke County Planning Commission, both the Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) have open Board Member Positions. The announcement reads as follows:


The Starke County Board of Commissioners is currently accepting applications for appointment to open seats on the Starke County Planning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA).

These boards are responsible for reviewing rezoning requests, land-use changes, subdivision applications, and variance requests in accordance with Indiana Code 36-7-4 and the Starke County Zoning Ordinance.

Members play a vital role in shaping the future growth and development of Starke County.

Eligibility

  • Must be a resident of Starke County, Indiana
  • Must provide political affiliation (for board balance per state law)
  • Experience or interest in planning, real estate, construction, agriculture, or public service is helpful
  • Members are expected to attend monthly meetings and comply with Indiana’s Open-Door Law

      Office Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Completed applications must be submitted to the Auditor’s Office by December 22nd 2025.

Appointment Process
Appointments will be made by the Starke County Board of Commissioners at a regularly scheduled public meeting following the close of the application period.
