These distributions are meant to help families in our area prepare for Thanksgiving. These dates are for this week, with the Food Bank stating there will be 2 more weeks with distribution dates forthcoming.
Two Starke County events are set for tomorrow, Tuesday, November 11th. The first will be at North Judson United Methodist Church, located at 210 Center Avenue. This distrubtion will take place from 9 – 10:30am Central Time, and is prepared to serve up to 125 households.
The second November 11th distribution will take place at Knox United Methodist Church, at 201 South Shield Street. This distribution is scheduled from 11:30am – 1pm Central Time, and is meant to serve up to 150 households.
In La Porte County, there will be Turkey on the Table distribution on Saturday, November 15th in Marquette Mall in Michigan City. This distribution will take place from 9 – 10:30am and is prepared to serve up to 500 households.
Each of these events offers free, pre-boxed and pre-bagged food items on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limit of one box and turkey per household. All events are drive-through only, and participants are asked to remain in their vehicles with trunks open to receive items.
The Food Bank is also accepting donations to help reach its goal of distributing 10,000 turkeys this Thanksgiving season across six counties including Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaPorte, Marshall, St. Joseph, and Starke Counties. A $15 donation provides one turkey to a family in need.
