PULASKI COUNTY – Pulaski County Community Development is accepting letters of interest and applications for open seats on commissions; the deadline is today.
The announcement states that at minimum, they will be filling the following seats:
- One seat on the Economic Development Commission (four-year term beginning in February; appointed by the Board of Commissioners upon the nomination of the Council);
- One seat on the Redevelopment Commission (one-year term beginning in January; appointed by the Board of Commissioners);
- One partial-term seat on the Tourism Advisory Council (one-year term beginning in January; appointed by the Board of Commissioners); and
- One full-term seat on the Tourism Advisory Council (two-year term beginning in January; appointed by the Board of Commissioners).
The announcement goes on to say:
“The primary responsibilities of the E.D.C. are reviewing applications for tax abatements and Revolving Loan Fund loans (once the program has been reopened) and, if/as/when needed, issuing bonds to fund development projects. An explicit residency requirement does not exist for E.D.C. membership.
The primary responsibilities of the R.C. are supporting/funding/facilitating development projects (potentially including acquiring, renovating/developing/redeveloping, and renting out or selling commercial properties); establishing and managing tax-increment–finance districts if/as/when appropriate; and, if/as/when needed, issuing bonds to fund development projects. An R.C. member must reside in Pulaski County.
The primary responsibilities of the TAC are developing/approving a budget for tourism-marketing spending, developing and overseeing the implementation of a tourism strategic plan, and supporting/funding/facilitating tourism projects and programs. With limited exceptions, TAC members must reside in Pulaski County.

If you wish to apply, please submit a letter of interest expressing which position interests you, why you are interested in the position, and what strengths you believe you would bring to the commission. Letters of interest are due to Ex. Dir. NPO no later than 4:00 p.m. E.T. on WEDNESDAY, 3 DECEMBER.
Article 2, Section 9 of the Indiana Constitution is relevant to these openings.
- A person holding a lucrative public position is ineligible to serve on the Economic Development Commission.
- A person holding a lucrative public position is eligible to serve on the Redevelopment Commission but ineligible to receive per-diem compensation for meetings attended.
- We do not believe a person holding a lucrative public position is eligible to serve on the Tourism Advisory Council, but, because the TAC is not technically a statutory commission, we are uncertain and looking into this matter.”
