Francesville and Medaryville awarded grant money from OCRA

PULASKI COUNTY – The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, or OCRA, announced yesterday that 11 communities across Indiana will receive $2,680,000 in Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Grants and Planning Grants through the Community Development Block Grant program.

Locally, both Francesville and Medaryville were selected to receive some of the grant money.

Francesville has been awarded $30,000 in a Downtown Revitalization Planning Grant. The aim of the grant is to provide a strategy for revitalizing downtown areas in rural communities. The plan serves as a road map for leveraging assets, securing funding sources, and building community engagement to help promote economic growth.

The town of Medaryville was awarded $20,000 in a Feasibility Study Grant, which helps communities to assess public facilities’ current conditions, needs, and a vision for future state and use of the facility. Eligible facilities include fire stations, senior centers, libraries, childcare centers, community centers, facilities for special needs groups, youth centers, museums and performance spaces, and other areas that open doors to knowledge, ideas, culture, and community quality of life.

Funding for OCRA’s CDBG programs originates from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant program and is administered for the State of Indiana by OCRA.
