Marshall County vehicle accident ends in fatality

A two-vehicle accident near Argos in Marshall County this week resulted in a fatality.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, on Sunday, December 28th, Marshall County 911 received a call in reference to a two vehicle unknown injury accident at the intersection of US 31 and SR 10.

Argos Fire and EMS, Argos Police, and Marshall County Units were dispatched to the area.

The report states that the driver of the first vehicle, 80 year old Carol Lee Ziert from Culver, was traveling west across US 31 and failed to yield to southbound US 31 traffic. As a result, Ziert traveled into the southbound lanes of 31 in front of a second vehicle traveling south.

As a result of the accident, Ziert was transported to Plymouth Saint Joseph Hospital and the driver of the second vehicle, 48-year-old William James Mramer, was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with apparent minor injuries.

The report states that while being treated at Saint Joseph hospital in Plymouth, Ziert succumbed to injuries from the accident.
