Last week, Oregon-Davis students participated in multiple hands-on learning opportunities in their Indiana Studies Class.
Last Friday, Oregon-Davis’s Indiana Studies class visited Knox Fire Department, EMS Med Base 3, and the Starke County Highway Department.
According to Starke County Emergency Management, students toured each of the aforementioned facilities and learned about equipment and operational procedures. Students had a chance to engage with personnel and ask questions.
Additionally, OD’s Indiana Studies class visited the Schricker House last Friday. The Starke County Historical Society taught students about how the Schrickers and other families lived in the 1950s. Students also learned interesting facts about Governor Schricker himself.
The Starke County Historical Society notes that they provide guided tours of the History Center and/or Schricker House; and that interested classes, groups, or organizations can reach out to schistorycenter@gmail.com or call 574-772-7424 to arrange a visit.
