On Saturday, January 10th, around 12:52pm, the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department responded to a building fire in Washington Township.

Several other local agencies responded to the call, including Knox-Center Township Fire Department, Koontz Lake Fire Department, Hamlet Fire Department, Bass Lake Fire Department, Culver Fire Department, Polk Township Fire Department, North Judson Fire Department standing by Bass Lake, and Walkerton Fire Department standing by Washington Township’s station.

According to the report shared by Knox-Center Township Fire Department, units arrived on scene to find a two-story, barn-style house engulfed in flames from all sides. Crews worked together and formed lines to begin dousing the fire from multiple sides.

Ultimately, due to water supply complications and the deteriorating conditions of the building, fire fighters were withdrawn from the building and defensive operations began; with agencies employing multiple hand lines to fight the fire.

KCFD reports they remained on scene for approximately 3 and a half hours.

Edit: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated the fire took place July 10th. The correct date is January 10th and the article has been updated.
