The Starke County Sheriff’s Office recently shared some tips for citizens during the winter weather advisory, especially in the case of seeing a vehicle off the side of the road.
The announcement, which came on Sunday morning, states that with winter storm impacts, most vehicles that are left on or near roadways will be towed for public safety, and to allow snow plows to properly clear the roads.
The post notes that some vehicles on the side of the road will be marked with Caution Tape. If an individual sees a vehicle off the road, but marked with caution tape, that vehicle has already been checked and is awaiting to be towed.
Vehicles on the side of the road with caution tape have been checked by public safety, and have been confirmed as unoccupied.
The announcement asks that citizens please do not call in to report a vehicle that is marked with caution tape, it has already been accounted for by responding units.
The notice ends with Starke County Sheriff’s Office expressing gratitude towards citizens for helping keep the roadways safe during winter storm conditions.
