According to a statement made this afternoon by Indiana State Senator Eric Koch (R-Bedford), “The permitted use language in House Bill 1333 will not be moving forward.”
House Bill 1333 is a bill that moved on to the Senate this week after passing in the House Monday. The bill began gaining attention for an amendment that was made to the bill before it passed, proposing that large construction projects could be automatically approved for zoning use on agricultural land with low-quality soil, without any zoning changes or public hearings required.
The Senate conducted a first reading of the bill today and referred the bill to the Indiana Senate Committee on Utilities, to which Koch is the chairman.
It is unclear at this time whether the Utilities Committee will attempt to amend the bill further or kill it entirely.
Koch is listed as a sponsor of the bill.
