An announcement made yesterday by Starke County Community Services states that it is in great need of volunteers for the local food pantry, and that even volunteering for 8 hours a month would make a big difference.
Open times where volunteers are most needed include on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
Volunteers on Mondays and Thursdays will be helping in the food pantry, which does require some lifting.
Volunteers are needed on Tuesdays to help answer phones, meet and greet incoming clients, and pull files as needed.
The hours needed to fill are from 10am – 2pm Central Time.
The announcement also states SCCS is still looking for volunteers for two days a week at the front desk, including answering and directing phone calls. The post states volunteers are needed for this position on Mondays from 8am – noon, and noon – 4pm; as well as on Fridays from noon – 4pm.
Those interested in volunteering can reach out to Starke County Community Services at 574-772-7070. Applicants should be able to pass a background test, and any volunteers under the age of 17 should be accompanied by an adult unless prior authorization is planned.
