NIPSCO Employees Assist Veterans Through Summer Fundraisers & Activities
To help fund Veteran support programs throughout Northern Indiana, NIPSCO is awarding 31 local Veteran organizations with donations totaling approximately $125,000. Local Red Cross Volunteer Heading to Houston
A local woman who volunteered during past natural disasters such as the Henryville Tornado and Hurricane Sandy will be deploying to Houston this weekend to assist the Red Cross with mass care efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Sherry Fagner is a former Incident Management Team member of the District 2 Task Force who now serves as the Lead Disaster Action Team member for Pulaski and Starke Counties. Local Eagle Scout Develops Horticulture Project for Pulaski Inmates
Land at the former Pleasant View Rest Home in Pulaski County could soon play host to fruit trees.
As part of an Eagle Scout Project, Jacob Conner with Boy Scout Post #229 in Winamac intends to work with jail facility inmates to plant the trees and set-up a program that allows them to harvest the crops.

Local Volunteer Honored by Ober Arbor Club

The Gleaner’s Ober Arbor Club honored Ed Hasnerl for his volunteer efforts. Hasnerl has served on the Library Board, the Gateway Committee, as the Starke County Historian, and on the IU Health Starke Hospital Board among many other boards and commissions over the years.
