The Winamac Volunteer Fire Department reports that on Sunday, February 22nd, at 12:52pm, they were dispatched to a house fire.

The call was an automatic dispatch for mutual aid to the Monterey Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find the structure, located behind another structure on the property, completely engulfed in flames.

Winamac VFD deployed two hoses and began fighting the fire. The report indicates that Winamac Electric also arrived on scene and shut off power to the burning building.

Tanker support was needed as there were no fire hydrants nearby due to the address being in a rural area. Between both stations, nearly four full tanker loads of water were used to fight the blaze.

Fire department members continued to take care of hot spots to prevent reignition after the main fire was extinguished.

There were no injuries reported on scene.
