San Pierre Volunteer Fire Department responds to woods fire

The San Pierre Volunteer Fire Department reports that on Wednesday, March 25th, its department dealt with a woods fire.

The announcement states that the woods fire was spreading quickly due to high winds. The fire was contained and extinguished with the assistance of La Crosse Volunteer Fire Department, Wheatfield Volunteer Fire Department, and Medaryville Volunteer Fire Department.

After the fire was contained and extinguished and the other departments were released, San Pierre Volunteer Fire Department stayed on scene to ensure all hotspots remained out.

The announcement continues with the San Pierre VFD expressing gratitude to the neighboring departments that assisted, the homeowners that allowed department members to use their yards to get closer to the fire, and all the volunteer firefighters who came to the scene.

The announcement ends with a reminder to citizens that if there is any wind at all, please do not burn anything.
