In Knox Mayor Dennis Estok’s recent notes from Knox’s February 24th Council Meeting, two construction projects were mentioned.
The report states that the city is currently working with the Kankakee River Basin Commission to remove the train bridge that is located near the depot over the Yellow River.
That project is in its early phases, with the announcement noting that this is the first of many steps to have the bridge removed.
The second project mentioned in the Mayor’s notes is at 18 South Main Street. The city reports that it now has the title to the property and is working jointly with the Redevelopment Commission to plan the redevelopment of the property.
The announcement states that there is a possibility that the city will be seeking input from the public as the development phase of the property gets closer.
