The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a recent spike in thefts in the small town of Hanna.
Friday evening, deputies responded to eight separate calls for service. Incidents included two motor vehicle thefts, four damaged mailboxes, and two vandalized highway signs. Additionally, several personal items were reported stolen on Friday, including a speaker, a purse with credit cards and ID, a hard hat, a headset, a vape, and two sets of vehicle keys.
Deputies from La Porte County are reminding Hanna residents to lock their vehicles, as unlocked cars appear to be a prime target for thieves.
