Knox Redevelopment Commission discusses Main Street property; facade grant program

The Knox Redevelopment Commission held a regular meeting Wednesday, April 15th.

The main discussion at the meeting was planning the future of the property located at 18 South Main Street. Board members discussed several ideas for development, including a dual-use building with retail space on the ground floor and residential apartments above. The incorporation of a courtyard or green space was also discussed.

Discussion also went into hiring an architectural firm to evaluate the land and present sketches of ideas for the property.

The city’s Facade Grant Application Program was also discussed, with board members stating one application for the program has been picked up but not yet returned. The program opened on April 1st to Knox’s downtown business district. Those who are interested in applying can stop by City Hall at 101 West Washington Street.

The Commission also signed vouchers in the amount of $711.54, to pay property taxes.
