La Porte woman sentenced in methamphetamine and fentanyl-related charges

The United States Department of Justice has announced that a La Porte woman has been sentenced to 72 months in prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute for both methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Monica Del Real, age 26, was sentenced on April 9th of this year by U.S. District Court Judge Damon R. Leichty.

The charges come from a traffic stop that was conducted in La Porte County, where Del Real was pulled over by law enforcement. During the stop, a drug K9 alerted officers to her vehicle, which led to the discovery of 136 grams of methamphetamine, and 12 grams of fentanyl hidden in a compartment near the gas pedal. Additionally, Del Real already had active warrants out for her arrest.

Del Real will serve 72 months in prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release.
