Mock vehicle accident simulation to take place at Knox High School tomorrow

The Starke County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with Knox Community Schools, has announced a mock accident simulation that will take place this week.

The announcement reads:

Knox Community Schools would like to inform parents, guardians, and community members that a mock traffic accident simulation will be taking place at Knox High School as part of our prom week safety awareness efforts.

This educational event is designed to demonstrate the very real and serious dangers of impaired and distracted driving, particularly related to alcohol use. The simulation will involve students and
coordinated participation from local law enforcement, fire department, and EMS personnel.

Event Details:
Location: Knox High School Parking Lot
Date: April 30, 2026
Time: 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM

During this time, community members may notice emergency vehicles on scene, as well as activity that may appear similar to a real emergency response. Please be advised that this is only a planned training and educational exercise.

Additionally, individuals who monitor police scanners may hear radio traffic associated with this event. Again, this will be part of the simulation and not an actual emergency. There is no danger to students, staff, or the community during this event.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we work together to educate our students and promote safe decision-making during prom season and beyond.

If you have any questions, please contact the Knox Community Schools Police Department.
