North Judson Town Manager Joe Leszek reported updates for North Judson Town Park Improvement Project at this week’s Redevelopment Commission Meeting.
Leszek reminded citizens that he applied for a Starke County Community Foundation grant for a new light pole in Norwayne Park, and shared that he hasn’t heard anything back yet in regards to the grant.
Leszek stated that things that need addressing in the town park include its pavilions and concession stands. Structurally those buildings are in good condition, but some of the eaves underneath the pavilions are only painted rather than protected.
The city got a quote to install white metal around the eaves and soffits of the concession stand, the park garage, and two pavilions. The $11,800 quote also includes a new garage door at the park garage.
Leszek stated that the Park Board had concerns about the project and how it might affect its budget. Leszek said that the money the town will use for beautification of the park and improvements would come from the town budget.
Leszek also shared that the park board wants to fundraise this year for additional park equipment such as swing sets.
