Public hearings regarding solar and data projects cancelled

An announcement made by the Starke County Planning Commission on Friday shares that an upcoming meeting has been canceled.

The meeting was originally scheduled to take place this upcoming Wednesday, April 29th; and was going to be a series of public hearings in regards to changes to ordinances regarding large-scale solar projects and data centers.

At last week’s County Commissioner’s meeting, it was decided that with such large changes being made to the two ordinances regarding Commercial Solar Energy Systems and Battery Energy Storage Systems, another re-visiting of the ordinances was necessary before moving to the public hearing stage.

This may be at least part of the reason for the meeting’s cancellation; however it was not made clear in the announcement if that was the case.

The rescheduling of the public hearings had not yet been announced at the time of this article.
