The agency provides cost-effective sentencing solutions for our Circuit Court, as well as effectual alternatives to incarceration for Probation violators and pretrial defendants, pending disposition of their cases.
Increased incarceration at both the local and state levels for non-violent justice-involved individuals requires increased funding, taxes, and potential liability issues.
The press release states that Court Services exists to serve the community by providing cost-effective supervision, community control techniques, and evidence-based programming to reduce the risk of reoffending.
Starke County Court Services Director R. Shawn Mattraw explained that the Starke County Community Corrections Advisory Board approved the grant application and budget, and that it has been submitted to the IDOC prior to its deadline date.
