Car seat safety event in Winamac tomorrow

There will be a car seat safety event taking place in Winamac tomorrow, Friday May 29th.

Safe Kids Northwest Indiana and the National Safety Council will be at the Winamac Fire Department tomorrow from 2-5pm Eastern Time to provide inspections to ensure car seats are installed safely, as well as safety education about car seats.

This is a needs-based program for Indiana residents, and the child must be present at the inspection. While caregivers are having their car seats inspected, kids can enjoy looking at the Winamac Fire Departmet’s fleet of trucks and enjoy a free hot dog, courtesy of VFW Winamac Post 1728.

Expectant mothers need to be at least 34 weeks pregnant to qualify for this assistance, though exceptions will be made for twins and triplets. Car seats may be available for qualifying families.

The event is hosted by the Pulaski County Health Department and Pulaski Memorial Hospital.

Those with questions can reach out to the Pulaski County Health Department at 574-946-6080.
