First Free Fishing Day in Indiana this Sunday

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has shared that this Sunday, May 10th, is Indiana’s first Free Fishing Day of 2026.

The announcement states that on a Free Fishing Day, Indiana residents are able to fish any public waters across the state, with no license or trout or salmon stamp needed.

Additionally, fishing for kids who are 17 and under is always free.

Even though residents do not need a license to fish on Free Fishing Day, all other rules (such as seasons, bag, and size limits) still apply.

Indiana DNR says that Free Fishing Days are a great opportunity to teach friends or family members how to fish.

Additional Free Fishing Days will be held June 6-7, and September 26th this year.
