New law expanding childcare across Indiana signed

STATEWIDE — Governor Braun has ceremonially signed a new law authored by State Representative Becky Cash to expand childcare access across Indiana.

The law increases eligibility for employer childcare tax credits to include companies with up to 500 employees, helping businesses cover costs like facility operations and staff wages.

Combined with other 2026 legislation, the move is expected to help an additional 14,000 children enroll in state voucher programs.

Officials say childcare capacity in Indiana has already grown to over 175,000 spots as of this March.
