At Monday’s Town Council meeting, North Judson officials approved a $2,000 contribution to Community Services of Starke County, who has reported a projected $90,000 annual deficit in the wake of government and state funds being cut drastically over the past few years.
During North Judson’s council meeting, representatives from Community Services shared that the organization has been around for more than 50 years and has never requested this type of local government support before.
North Judson officials noted that Community Services plays an important role locally, serving residents in the community, particularly at the North Judson senior site.
Following discussion, the council approved its $2,000 contribution, totaling $72,000 when added to Starke County Commissioner’s $70,000 contribution approved on Monday morning.
Officials stated that Community Services still continues to face uncertainty regarding future state and federal funding levels.
