Starke County Commissioners will be holding a regular meeting this upcoming Monday, June 1st.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 5pm Central Time and will take place at the Starke County Courthouse, located at 53 East Washington Street in Knox.
Commissioners will handle vendor and payroll claims, as well as the minute approval from their May 18th meeting.
The meeting will begin with a public hearing for a road vacation, or the permanent closure of a road. The agenda indicates that notice for this public hearing was given in the May 21st edition of the Starke County Leader.
Following the public hearing will be a discussion on the coroner building. Commissioners will have discussions on multiple resolutions with a Planning Commission official. Resolutions that will be discussed include updates to fencing ordinances, a moratorium on carbon capture, and ordinances covering commercial solar energy systems and battery energy storage systems. There will also be discussion on a resolution to establish procedures for county residential permit reviews, plan examinations, and inspections.
The EMS director will discuss the distribution of the opioid fund with commissioners, and they will receive an update from the Treasurer.
Finally, Commissioners will discuss fire access with a representative from an electrical services company, and any other business that might come before them. The meeting, which is open to the public, will then be adjourned.
