The Starke County Council announced a date change for their upcoming meeting.
The meeting will be held on Friday, May 22nd at 4:30pm Central Time. The meeting will be in the Annex Meeting Room located at 53 East Mound Street in Knox.
There will be two public hearings at this Council meeting. The first will be a public hearing for additional appropriations in regards to Ordinance #12.
Ordinance #12 would authorize nearly $92,000 in county spending from several county funds, because the money was not fully included in the original 2026 budget.
Items proposed in the ordinance include $80,000 from the county’s CEDIT fund towards operational expenses, as well as $4158.66 from the Jail CEDIT fund towards capital outlay expenses.
Additionally, the county is seeking $7,800 from the Cumulative Capital Development Fund for attorney fees, including $2,800 for the Planning Commission and $5,000 for the Board of Zoning Appeals.
Following this public hearing, there will be a public hearing for additional appropriation for the North Judson Wayne Township Public Library.
After both public hearings conclude, the Council will review the April 20th meeting minutes and address any other business that may be presented to the board, before adjourning the meeting.
The public is invited to attend this meeting.
