
According to a press release from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, on May 2nd at approximately 9:58pm Eastern Time, an off-duty Marshall County Police Officer attempted to stop a vehicle that was swerving on US 30 near Iris Road.
The vehicle reportedly had almost struck the officer prior to him activating his emergency lights.
The vehicle failed to yield to the officer and continued westbound on US 30. The vehicle continued at a high rate of speed until it struck a semi on US 30 near County Road 1100 East in Starke County.
The vehicle impacted the rear of the semi and then impacted a Plymouth Police Department patrol car before coming to rest in a ditch.
The sole occupant of the vehicle was identified as Camica Shanique Gibbs, who was taken into custody.
A Plymouth Police Department officer was taken to the hospital for minor injuries due to the collision.
Gibbs is being charged with two counts of Resisting Law Enforcement and two counts of Criminal Recklessness.
Responding agencies include Marshall County SD, Plymouth PD, Starke County SD, Plymouth EMS and Fire, and Starke County EMS.
A reminder that suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
