
According to a press release from the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday, June 27th, at 10:23pm Central Time, its deputies responded to the 200 south block of Main Street in Wanatah for a head-on crash.
The initial on-scene investigation completed by Deputy Marvin McCoy and assisting deputies determined the following:
A green 1998 Mazda pickup truck, being operated by 43-year-old Allyn T. Brown of Wanatah, was traveling northbound on Main Street.
A maroon 2016 GMC pickup truck, being operated by 65-year-old David L. Bailey also of Wanatah, was traveling southbound on Main Street.
The Mazada was reported as traveling northbound at an excessive speed and left of center. The pickup trucks collided head-on. Following the crash, the pickup truck being operated by Bailey left the roadway and crashed into a residence.
Brown was pronounced deceased at the scene. Bailey and his adult passenger were treated for minor injuries at the scene.
Alcohol is a factor in the crash. Toxicology test results are pending. The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available for release.
