Last week to apply for Northern Indiana Community Foundation’s summer scholarships

The Northern Indiana Community Foundation is reminding those who are seeking further education that summer scholarship applications are still open for about another week.

The deadline to apply is Thursday, July 2nd, and Northern Indiana Community Foundation has scholarships available for students in college, trade school, graduate students, adults returning to school or taking training, and for many specialized career paths.

Scholarships are available in Fulton, Miami, and Starke counties.

In Starke County, available scholarships include the Forrest and Helen Whitson and Son, John Witson Scholarship; for sophomore and higher-level Purdue University students in the schools of Engineering, Agriculture, or Consumer and Family Living, and who also graduated from a Starke County High School.

The Helen and Ware Edgar Scholarship is for a Starke County High School graduate who plans to pursue a career in journalism.

The Megan Elytha Jean Sahlhoff Music Scholarship is for Starke County residents who are graduates of North Judson San Pierre High school, and who are pursuing a career with a major or minor in a music related field.

The Starke Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship will provide support for educational scholarships for a Starke County resident who is attending any two- or four-year college, university, or vocational school with a pursuit of study in the medical field.

Finally, the Back Home Again in Indiana Scholarship is for non-traditional students who wish to pursue higher education and/or training. This includes those who have graduated from high school or gotten a GED and have delayed entrance into college, rather than earning a degree immediately after high school.

The scholarship applications are reviewed and each applicant will be matched with any of the scholarships they are eligible for.
