The National Weather Service Northern Indiana forecast discussion page shared an addition on Tuesday, in regards to today’s potential weather systems.
The addition was made at 6:13pm Central Time Tuesday evening, and states that there is a moderate risk for severe weather today into this evening. Damaging winds, large hail, tornadoes, and localized flooding are all potential threats.
Additionally, a moderate swim risk for southeast Lake Michigan beaches is present currently with a high swim risk appearing likely for Thursday.
Multiple local agencies are gearing up for the potential of strong weather in the area. Starke County Emergency Management shared a weather alert yesterday, encouraging community members to prepare as soon as possible for severe weather.
Emergency Management urges residents to stay weather-aware, and to have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts. Those needing a safe place to go can contact EMA at 219-205-2057 to find out if there are available locations to provide shelter.
Additionally, the EMA encourages citizens to share storm damage reports and photos with them so they may accurately assess storm impacts.
